Ongoing Business Support
Business needs do not always arrive as neatly defined projects. A new decision, operational issue, funding question, website change, vendor problem, or implementation gap may require timely support—but not a separate consulting engagement every time.
Acumen Business Consulting Inc. provides ongoing business support through monthly retainer plans for owners and teams that need consistent access to practical advisory, planning, documentation, coordination, and implementation support.
Each plan reserves a defined amount of monthly capacity for the client. Requests are prioritized within the available hours, agreed scope, response standards, and operational complexity of the work.
Not Every Business Need Requires a New Project
Businesses often need support between major projects. A decision must be reviewed, a document needs updating, a vendor requires direction, an operational issue appears, or a previously implemented system needs refinement.
Without an ongoing support structure, these smaller needs may be delayed, handled reactively, or repeatedly explained to different providers who do not understand the broader business context.
Ongoing Business Support gives the client reserved access to Acumen’s business context, advisory capacity, and implementation support over time. Instead of restarting the relationship for every request, the client can bring forward eligible needs within a defined monthly plan and agreed working process.
Who This Service Is For
This service is intended for businesses that have recurring advisory or implementation needs but do not require a full consulting project for every issue. It may be suitable for:
Owners who need periodic support with business decisions
Teams managing several small improvements at the same time
Businesses that completed a consulting, website, systems, or documentation project and need continued support
Companies without an internal senior resource for every business function
Owners who want one coordinator across several providers or workstreams
Businesses that need recurring document, workflow, website, marketing, or system updates
Teams that benefit from regular accountability and priority review
Clients whose needs vary from month to month
Businesses that want reserved consulting capacity rather than ad hoc availability
The service is most valuable when the client can submit clear requests, provide the required information, identify internal decision-makers, and work within a defined monthly capacity.

Some requests can be completed within a retainer plan. Larger initiatives, custom development, extensive research, major website work, full grant or financing applications, or complex implementations may require a separate project scope.
What the Retainer Does (and Does Not) Include
A monthly retainer reserves a defined amount of Acumen’s capacity. It does not provide unlimited consulting, unlimited revisions, unrestricted same-day work, or automatic inclusion of every service offered by Acumen. Retainer hours may be used for eligible advisory, planning, documentation, review, coordination, and implementation tasks agreed within the service relationship.
A separate project may be required when a request involves:
Work that exceeds the remaining monthly hours
A large or clearly defined deliverable
Extensive research or financial modeling
Full business plans, grant applications, or financing packages
Major website redesign or development
Custom software or application development
Complex system implementation or data migration
Significant third-party coordination
Urgent work that displaces previously scheduled commitments
Regulated or specialist professional services
Work outside Acumen’s agreed service scope
Where a request falls outside the retainer, Acumen will identify the scope before additional work proceeds.
Typical Outputs
Depending on the request and available monthly capacity, outputs may include:
Recommendation notes
Option comparisons
Action plans
Decision frameworks
Priority lists
Review comments
Updated business documents
Templates and checklists
SOP or workflow revisions
Meeting or implementation notes
Vendor or provider briefs
Website or content updates
Funding-readiness documents
Request and dependency trackers
Coordination summaries
Follow-up recommendations
Not every request results in a formal written deliverable. Some requests may be resolved through a meeting, email guidance, document review, implementation action, or coordination with another provider.
How Requests Are Prioritized and Delivered
Ongoing support works best when requests are submitted through a clear and consistent process. Requests are reviewed based on:
Business impact
Urgency
Dependencies
Available information
Estimated effort
Remaining monthly hours
Required external input
Previously scheduled commitments
Response time refers to when Acumen acknowledges or begins reviewing a request. It does not guarantee that the work will be completed within the same period.
Completion time depends on the complexity of the request, document availability, revisions, external providers, client decisions, and remaining capacity under the plan.
Where several requests are active at the same time, Acumen and the client may agree on a priority order.
