Practical Business Training for Teams

Practical Business Training for Teams

Help your people improve how work gets done and prepare for the demands of growth.

Recurring delays, unclear handoffs and increasing workloads can put pressure on a business. Your team needs practical ways to investigate these issues, compare options and make informed improvements.

Acumen’s private training combines clear instruction with facilitated workshops and workplace exercises. Participants learn methods they can apply within their roles and use together across the business.

Based in London, Ontario, we offer online and on-site training for small and medium-sized businesses.

  • Business Process Improvement Training

Build the skills to investigate and improve everyday workflows.

For teams dealing with recurring delays, inconsistent methods, unclear responsibilities or repeated questions.

Participants learn process mapping, cause investigation, responsibility mapping and SOP or checklist development. They practise using a selected workflow from your company, then learn how to test a proposed change and plan a measured trial.

Editable templates support later applications to other suitable processes. A 45-minute follow-up reviews how participants have applied the learning and any questions arising from use.

Group: 4–8 people from one company
Format: Two three-hour sessions or a single-day program
    Delivery: Online or on-site

  • Operational Growth Readiness Training

Prepare your team for the operational demands of growth.

For growing businesses where higher demand, additional people or new services are placing pressure on capacity and coordination.

Participants examine how growth affects their roles and how work, information and decisions connect across the company. Facilitated workshops help them explore constraints, strengthen handoffs and evaluate capacity options against customer needs and business priorities.

A workbook and editable tools capture their observations, shared maps and practice exercises for continued use within the business.

Group: 6–10 people from one company
Format: Two full days, with approximately 12 hours of learning and practice
Delivery: On-site or online in suitable learning blocks

Who This training is for

Our programs are designed for company teams that want practical skills they can use in their work.

Participants may include owners, managers, supervisors, team leads and employees involved in important workflows or connections between functions. Your company selects the group according to its learning goals.

Training can be useful when:

  • Recurring operational problems are taking up management time.

  • Work moves between people without clear information or expectations.

  • Different approaches to the same task create inconsistency.

  • Growth is increasing workload or exposing capacity constraints.

  • People need a shared method for examining issues and discussing improvements.

We can help you identify which program fits your team and which roles would benefit from attending.

Learning That Connects to Your Business

How the Training Works

Start with Your Learning Needs

A brief conversation helps us understand what you want your team to learn, who will attend and the delivery arrangements. Depending on the program, we also agree a suitable context for the exercises.

1

Learn Through Active Participation

Instruction is followed by individual reflection, small-group activities and facilitated discussion. Participants try the methods, ask questions and compare their understanding with colleagues who see other parts of the work.

2

Develop Useful Working Materials

Throughout the training, participants capture their observations and practise using the program’s tools. They leave with editable templates and working materials they can revisit, refine and apply within the business.

3

What Participants Take Away

Each program provides its own workbook, tools and practice activities.

Depending on the training selected, participants develop workflow maps, responsibility tables, SOP or checklist drafts, constraint and dependency maps, capacity exercises or application notes.

Alongside these materials, they gain experience in describing problems clearly, evaluating possible causes and discussing responses with colleagues. The aim is to build a practical approach they can continue using as their work changes.

The detailed briefing and curriculum for each program are available privately to interested companies.
